Peace cannot be declared. It must be built.
It is built in spaces where women and men from different cultures agree to come together, to listen to one another, and to seek out what unites them rather than what divides them. The French language is one such space. It does not belong exclusively to any one territory—it spans continents, connects realities that seemed worlds apart, and creates the conditions for a dialogue that few other means can facilitate so naturally.
It is this conviction that has driven the Rotary Association for the Francophonie since its founding in 2023. And it is this same conviction that brings us together every year on September 21 for the International Day of Peace.
An event that has now become an annual tradition
Following a first, inaugural edition in 2022 and a second symposium that confirmed this momentum in 2025 with 450 participants, we invite you to join us for the 3rd Symposium for Peace on the theme “La Francophonie, A Vector for Peace”, on Monday, September 21, 2026, at the Salle Cortot—a historic monument in Paris’s 17th arrondissement, a temple of music and acoustics, and an exceptional setting for an exceptional celebration.
The evening will alternate between moments of diplomatic reflection and moments of musical grace: two roundtable discussions bringing together international delegations to discuss the themes of language, culture, diplomacy, youth, and education—interspersed with musical interludes performed by outstanding artists.

The artists
Charlotte Badoc
Trained at the Conservatoire à rayonnement Intercommunal du Kremlin-Bicêtre by Myriam Serfass, Charlotte has nurtured a passion for music and the harp since she was 6 years old.
She helped found the HarpoMélusine association and has performed with them at the Annecy Festival and even at the 2022 World Harp Congress in Cardiff. Charlotte practices and hones her skills on the Celtic harp, and enjoys adapting pieces not originally intended for it, breaking down the expectations and limitations associated with the Celtic harp.
While pursuing a parallel career in scientific research in the field of cognitive science, she combines her professional and personal interests by exploring topics related to the acoustic environment, such as psychoacoustics and the use of music to treat neurological disorders. This has also led her to perform at the closing ceremony of the Cognitive Science Forum in Nice in 2025.
Leïla Bredent
Born in Pointe-à-Pitre, lyric soprano Leïla Brédent earned degrees in musicology and opera singing from the CRR in Poitiers, after working with Molière Athalys and honing her craft under the guidance of Grace Bumbry, Barbara Hendricks, and June Anderson.
She has performed in France and internationally, notably in New York, Guadeloupe, Cuba, Martinique, and on the set of France 2’s *Le Grand Échiquier*.
A gold medalist at the 3rd Berliner International Music Competition in 2019 and recipient of the “Venus of Success” award in 2022, she has also performed with several orchestras.
Mylène Alexis-Garel
She was introduced to music at a very young age in Guadeloupe by her father and Jenny Albanèse-Grand, and made her debut as a soloist at the Pointe-à-Pitre Center for Arts and Culture, with support from the Alliance des Arts and the DRAC. Trained at the École Normale de Musique de Paris under teachers including Antonio Ruiz-Pipo, André Gorog, and Marc Poujol, she went on to further her studies with Hacène Larbi and Jérôme Granjon.
A unanimous First Prize winner in piano, a laureate of national competitions, and the holder of a DEA in musicology from the Sorbonne, she performs in France and the United States as a soloist and chamber musician.
In addition to her work as a concert performer and teacher at conservatories in Paris and the Île-de-France region, she is writing a dissertation on Creole musical aesthetics.

LIVE PEACE
Live Peace est une association qui promeut la paix mondiale par la musique et l’art. Chaque année, autour du 21 septembre (Journée internationale de la paix de l’ONU), elle coordonne des concerts et événements culturels dans le monde entier pour porter le message : « Nous voulons la paix et la fin de toutes les guerres. »
L’initiative est soutenue par 10 lauréats du prix Nobel de la paix et repose sur un réseau international de bénévoles et de partenaires. L’association est partenaire média de notre Symposium et nous envisageons déjà un engagement à plus long terme.
